Well. We are officially old. Just kidding. But we did both hit some pretty big milestones this year! On August 26th I became one quarter of a century old and Brig hit the big 3-0 on September 13th. Crazy! Here is how we spent our big days :)
First off, since my birthday was on a Sunday, Brig and I celebrated with each other on Saturday. The day started with both of us having to go to work (yes, even on a Saturday - shocker). But my day was very soon brightened when I received these beauties! I sure love my husband :)
After Brig got off work, we went out to eat at the Pupuseria. Seriously
one of my favorite places! I could eat there every day.
After dinner, we swung by Charley's real quick and grabbed some
delicious shakes. Ice cream sure knows how to make me happy :) Ice
cream and my husband of course.
After we got our ice cream we headed home for a nice relaxing evening :) Anyone else love Burn Notice? We do :)
Sunday we spent the day after church with my family. It was a great day!
Every year I am lucky enough to celebrate my birthday with two of my very very very favorite people. My mom's birthday just happens to be the day after mine, and my dad's is the day after hers. Love them both so much!
The next day at work, my awesome co-workers brought me blueberry cake donuts and chips and salsa. Two of my favorite things :)
And sometime that week, Mick and Becki took Brig and I out for dinner! It was delicious, thanks so much guys! :)
All in all - not a bad way to turn 25! Still seems crazy to be that old, ha! I have a feeling it will be a pretty good year though :)
Even more exciting however? This guy turned THIRTY! Wooo!
In honor of Brig's big day, I decided that we must celebrate by doing something that he would ABSOLUTELY NOT approve of. A surprise party! Nice of me huh? :) I had known that I was going to do it for a couple of months and I was so nervous that he was going to find out! Especially when the actual day came and it happened to be a Saturday when I wasn't working. The reason I was nervous about that? Because I actually got ready for the day, ha! I was sure he would be suspicious ;) But I guess I did a great job because he had no idea!
I must say though, that this day could not have been possible without the help of my awesome sister in law and brother in law! Originally Brig was going to be working on the day of the party, so it was going to be really easy to make sure we could get him there on time and keep him out of my hair while I prepared. Well, a couple weeks before the party he decided he was not going to be working, because he had a scout overnighter/camp out/hike the night before! Of course! So - I had no idea when he was going to be home, or how I was going to get everything done. Yeah, I was kinda freaking out. I worked it out with Shannon before hand to have her help me get him out of the house, but long story short, he was being VERY difficult when he got home! Luckily, Shannon and Brady were awesome and came down to our house to keep him occupied while I "went to take my brother's family pictures" (which I really did do, just not at that time ;) )
We had the party at our neighborhood park. The guests arrived, and then we just had to play the waiting game. And then... HE ARRIVED!
In the perfect outfit for the occasion! Haha! Messy hair, big t-shirt, basketball shorts, and CROCS! Couldn't have been any better :) He was so surprised!
Jared and Ty made him a tunnel :) Shannon had told him that they needed to take a break from the football game they were watching to go to the park. We are so clever! :) Thanks again Shannon! Seriously could not have done it without you!
Now, I knew that Brig would be mad enough at me for having a party for him without his knowledge, so I didn't plan anything really extravagant. Just dinner and socializing :) Our families were so awesome to help me with the meal! I would have been totally overwhelmed trying to do it all myself. Thank you so much again everyone!!!
Ty and Carly came all the way from Salt Lake! Thanks guys!
Dustin got pooped on. Hahahaha! :) So funny :)
There was a little basketball :)
These guys crack me up. We definitely don't get to see enough of them!
After dinner and hanging out, everyone sang happy birthday :) I told them that I was not going to initiate the singing our I would get in trouble, but that I would not try to stop them if they kicked it off ;)
Thank you so so so so SO much again to everyone who came. It really means a lot to us :) And thanks to everyone who was unable to come, but still called/text and sent well wishes. We have the greatest friends and relatives in the world :)
Brig's actual birthday came with quite a bit of sadness. We had to say goodbye to our Sammy girl just two days before. It's really hard to be happy so soon after losing someone you love so much. We sure miss her and Snoop and think about them all the time. I've got a nice blog post in the works about Sammy's life, similar to the one I did for Snoop, and I hope that I can convey just what she meant to Brig and I. Through the sadness, and despite having to work all day, Brig and I found some time to get some Chinese for his birthday dinner ;) It was great to be able to be together.
Plus the next day we were headed out to Hawaii! And we couldn't wait :) It turned out to be really good timing to serve as a distraction for us and also an extended birthday celebration. More on that to come!
Happy Birthday my love! I love you more and more every day. Even if you are kind of old now ;)

Brig loves to protest but I know in his heart he appreciated the attention and love. It makes me laugh how well you know Brig and his quirks!
