Hawaii! Day 1 - The Flight

I have this sister.  Her name is Candice.  She and her family recently visited from Germany!  We had SO much fun while they were here, and I can't wait to blog about it all!!!  However, I am going to wait for her to send me the pictures that she took, because she was much more on the ball than I was.  I was too busy soaking up every minute I could with them!  Not only is she MY sister (and we all know how I am at getting around to thing like that), but she also has 5 kids, so needless to say she's quite busy.  Say a little prayer that she gets them sent quick! (Hint, hint - to one particular individual who may be reading this blog ;) ).  Since it may be awhile, I decided to get a head start (heh) on blogging about our AMAZING trip last Fall :)  So here it is!

Last September (yes, you heard me right - September), Brig and I were fortunate enough to be able to go with his parents to Hawaii for a week!  His parents own a week at a resort, and have been going there once a year for a while to kick back and get some much deserved R&R.  Many of those years, his parents have invited various members of the family to join them on their trip.  Oh man, was I ever excited when they asked us!!!  Brig has been once with them before, but I had never been to Hawaii before at all, and a vacation like that was just what I needed!  Brig and I would not have been able to go on a trip like this last year otherwise.  I am so grateful for my in-laws - not just because they invite us to do cool things, but because of the wonderful, genuine, caring, good people that they are!  I say it all the time, but I really am blessed with the worlds best in-laws!  Thank you, thank you, thank you to them!
Our flight left Salt Lake VERY early in the morning (and as it was long ago, I cannot remember the exact time - nor does it really matter).  The anticipation was KILLING me!
 Waiting at the airport.
When we finally boarded the plane and took off, I was THRILLED!  Also, Brig got a haircut :)
We flew first to L.A. and then to Honolulu.  The flight including our layover was pretty long.  But it wasn't so bad.  And the clouds were absolutely beautiful over the ocean!  When I flew to Germany last year, I was in the middle isle of a huge jet, so I couldn't see the ocean out of the windows then.
Setting sun... Still on the plane :)  Again, loved the clouds.
Brig got lots of reading done on the trip.  I didn't.  I don't know why, I just didn't feel like it!  He read 2 books I think, and Becki read 3.  They are quick!  I read maybe 20 pages.  Hehe.

We arrived in Honolulu really late, and then it was an hour drive from there to the resort.
And oh my, the Marriott Ko Olina Resort is absolutely gorgeous!!!  We got there so late (aka, early the next morning) that all we really wanted to do at that point was sleep in this heavenly king sized bed!

I was so excited to wake up and take a walk around the resort.  I was definitely in for a treat!
A little preview of the resort, until tomorrow ;) Gorgeous.
As usual, this series of postings is going to have a lot of pictures, so beware.  I love taking pictures and going new places, and it's just something that I want to do :)  I keep thinking that one day I will do the cute scrapbook pages and be able to just post them onto my blog, but it's just not going to happen for me right now.
Oh well - we do what we can, right?! :)
Much more to come!
