September Something, 2009 - The Uintas!

Awhile ago, Pig and I went to the Uintas with Dustin and Dan. We had a really good time, minus the cold and the tragic death of what appeared to be some sort of mole. We were sad that Heather and Danika couldn't come, but maybe next year when it's a little warmer we'll be able to all go together! We didn't get to where we wanted to park Dan's very comfortable and luxurious mini van until just about dark, so we set off on our "hike" and put up camp in complete darkness. It was an adventure for sure! Part of setting up camp meant gathering firewood, so while the two men with hatchets did that, Dustin and I were given the great responsibility of finding rocks to make the fire pit. I think it turned out really nicely! That was probably our biggest contribution to the whole weekend I'd say. Saturday we all just kind of hung out. We pumped some water, went for a small hike, tried to capture a chipmunk that kept eating our licorice (an activity in which I did not take part!), and ate a lot of camping food. Brig and Dan also fished, while Dustin and I sat in our chairs and watched... it was awesome. I guess we just weren't really bread for the whole camping thing. Anyways, we took it easy the whole time we were there, and it was my first time ever really camping somewhere where the car wasn't immediately available (although it was only probably a half a mile away - not quite as distant as we'd originally intended). So all in all, it was pretty fun. Hopefully I wont be camping again any time soon, but it's probably Pig's favorite thing to do, so my guess is i'll just have to get used to it!

I don't know why this picture is sideways, but it's the only one to prove i was actually there!

Some giant bundle of sticks we found. (This picture could have been a lot cooler if i didn't use the flash, but then you wouldn't have been able to see Dans lovely face).

  1. Hey! I think that this is the first time I've seen Pig without the facial hair! And I'm proud of you for roughing it a little Tara. I don't know when we stopped camping as a family, but obviously you and Dustin were really little! Way to go though! Way to rock the fire pit!

  2. This is Dan,

    This is Dan,

That was a lot of fun. I like the pics you took. Let pig know that if he ever wants to go on a three to four hour fishing trip and not catch a thing, he knows who to call. By the way, sorry about you two catching whatever I had,....now you know why I was becoming one with nature every morning.
