This years Memorial Day was certainly eventful! The day started out with Brig going to work (bummer). My brother and his family were up, and my sister had been up the day before and left one of her kids to stay overnight for a sleepover at Grandmas. The plan for the day was to go on a walk and then have a picnic at the park by Willow Zoo... Except that is not exactly what happened. Minutes before we were supposed to head out the door, Kade and Gage were chasing each other, and Gage fell and slammed his face right into a wooden stair in my parent's front entryway. OUCH! His lip was totally cut open, and his front teeth were pushed backwards. Needless to say, he didn't really want to go to the park anymore. Luckily, Brig's mom and dad just happened to stop by my parent's house to drop off a quilt, so we had Mick come in and take a look at it (he's a doctor). He said if they took him in, they might put a couple of stitches in it, but that it would heal just as well without them. I saw Gage today (less than a week later), and his lip is almost totally healed! Amazing :)
Anyway, on to the rest of the day... Dustin and Heather took their kids, and Gage and went home, which left me with a lot of free time. I decided to go home and get some yard work done. I enjoy being out in the yard, so it wasn't so bad. Not what I had in mind for the day, but not bad. After that, Brig got home and we decided that we would go visit a couple of graves, get some dinner, and see what happened! We were sad we didn't make it out to a lot of the graves that we usually visit.
Visiting Snoop's grave.
Visiting my Grandma and Grandpa Wuthrich, Uncle Lloyd, and Aunt Julie. My uncle Lloyd was in the military and was killed while in the service. He had a wife and a baby girl at home. I can't even begin to imagine how hard that would be. My mom was 12. I am so grateful for all of our servicemen and women who have sacrificed so much for our country!
Afterward we decided to get a Little Caesars, and go up to Green Canyon to eat. There is a little pond at the entrance that we used to take the dogs to all the time when we lived up by there. Definitely miss that!
Lovely, as always.
I do love pizza. Seriously.
Sammy isn't allowed on the furniture (or even the carpet) at our house, so it was so funny when she decided that she wanted to jump up on the bench and sit by Brig. Love that girl :)
After pizza we decided to stop by Aggie Ice Cream (I know, I know! I about died of sickness the next day!). It just so happened that my parents and little brothers got there right at the same time! I was too distracted to take any pictures I guess. It was so nice to sit outside and enjoy the beautiful weather and be with family. I am so grateful for all of those who have gone before us, and hope that I can live my life in a way that would make them proud.
That last photo of Brigham and Sammy is classic. They are both making the same face!
